The history of curling is not unlike that of bowling, with semi-recognizable variations of the sport dating back 1000s of years. In modern times, we establish the official birthday of the game as 1838 when the Grand Caledonian Curling Club was formed in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Scots were passionate about their curling, as there was little to enjoy in the frigid cold amongst the frozen lochs. In the late 1800s and into the 20th century, as Scotsmen emigrated to the US and distant parts of Europe, they took the game with them, and clubs sprang up around the globe. Worldwide acceptance is established at Chamonix, France when in 1924 curling was first introduced to the Winter Olympic games. Our curling ornaments can be personalized for the athletic curler, male and female alike. Each arrives in our exclusive black velvet drawstring bag, ready to make a much appreciated gift.
